Common Questions
New to acupuncture? Most people are!
If you we didn’t answer your questions, give us a call at (773) 466-9882.
-
Whatever works for you! If you're coming from work, no need to change. If you have the option, we recommend loose, comfortable clothing like lounge pants and a sweatshirt.
-
Yes—there's usually ample street parking nearby. Milwaukee Ave has free street parking; N Weiser is paid. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to give yourself time to settle in.
Check out our map below!

Nope! Please fill out your digital intake form. Otherwise, most of our patients just bring themselves.
-
MOST of our patients are (you read this correctly!). It is totally normal to be needle sensitive.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Our needles are 10x thinner than injection needles
We use specific techniques to minimize sensation
We can use as few as you’d like
We can treat WITHOUT needles all together. Our tool kit is vast!

Appointment Flow
Not sure what's about to happen? That's completely normal. Here's how your appointment will flow.
chief Complaint
1
We will ask things you expect—like ‘please describe your main concern (Chief Complaint).’ We’ll also ask questions you don’t expected—like ‘can you describe your sleep, digestion, and stress.’ We want to understand your pain point AND all parts of your health system that influence it. After we will tailor your treatment to your specific needs.
Once the needles are placed, you'll have quiet rest time—usually 20–30 minutes (finding uninterrupted quiet time is an awesome bonus of acupuncture). This is where the real work happens. Many patients fall asleep and take an ‘acu-nap,’ others meditate and focus on their breathing.

Treatment + rest
Debrief + next steps

As your session ends, we will check-in with how you’re feeling and what to expect in the coming days. Healing is a process—your body will continue responding after you leave.
BONUS: Questions to Ask your clinician
We didn’t know what to ask during our first appointment. So we create a list what we wish we would have asked:
What does it feel like?
How does acupuncture actually work?
What should I do while I'm resting?
How will I know if it's working?
How many sessions should I expect?
“Our bodies are designed to self-heal. Our job is to help our bodies relearn that process.”
